Take Action for Aquatic Life Competition

Are you an eco-warrior? Get out there and help clean up our waterways and oceans. You can win one of six eco prize packs worth over $100! Hurry, entries close 31 May.

Action Ideas

• Organise a beach or neighbourhood clean
• Cook a fish-free meal
• Take action at school by doing a project on plastic in the ocean
• Request a fish-free school lunch menu
• Cover your books with a ‘save the sea’ message
• Chalk a message about keeping our waterways clean
• Take some amazing photos of your favourite river or lake
• Create a poster or library display about the ocean
• Create a work of art showing the beauty of our natural waterways
• Give a speech on your favourite aquatic animal
• Write a creative piece about what it would be like to live in a polluted waterway

Refer a Friend competition

Do you have a friend who would just love to be part of Animal Squad? Get a friend to sign up and you will both be in the draw to win a $50 Toy World voucher!

How to enter

1. Ask your friend to join Animal Squad (sorry, they can’t be current members!)
2. Get them to head to safeanimalsquad.org.nz and click ‘join us’
3. Make sure they put your name under ‘comments’
4. Once they have joined you are both in the draw. Good luck!

Refer a Friend competition details

You must be 14 years of age or under and live in New Zealand to join SAFE Animal Squad. Sign ups must be received by midnight 13 June 2021. You can enter as many different friends as you like.

SAFE will randomly select four referrals as winners. All winners and their referrer will each receive a $50 Toy World voucher. Winners will be announced on our website before 18 June 2021.

Thank you to everyone who entered the Action for Greyhounds Competition. We had some incredible entries!

Our six winners, who will each receive a Garmin Vivofit Jr 2 smart watch, are:

	Violet – 8 I started a petition to ban greyhound racing. I saw some Auckland Blues and All Blacks rugby players so I asked them to sign the petition too. I’m still working on getting lots more signatures.
	Hannah – 9 I made a poster to help stop greyhound racing. I hope you enjoy it. I learned a lot about greyhounds from the Animal Squad newsletter!
	Mahi – 9 I wrote an article along with a picture I drew. It tells about why greyhound racing is hurting them. Greyhounds are caring, gentle and loving. I am trying to convince my parents to adopt a Greyhound because we could give them a loving home.
	Madelynn – 9 I wrote Pet me don’t bet on me #bangreyhoundracing on the driveway in chalk.
	Bella – 10 I wrote a poem about how wonderful greyhounds are and why greyhound racing needs to be banned in New Zealand.
	Katiya – 10 I sent a card to Aaron Hawkins, our mayor, and Jacinda Ardern asking them to stop greyhound racing.
