Action

Present a speech or talk on an animal issue you care about.

Why

Presenting a speech or talk can educate and inspire others to take action for animals.

Detail

Public speaking may not be everyone’s favourite thing to do, but by speaking to others about animal issues, we can make a real difference.

Just look at what young people like Greta Thunberg have achieved. Some of Greta’s most meaningful work has been through public speaking. Just like Greta, you too can use your voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Whether it’s freeing chickens from cages, banning greyhound racing or ending animal testing in New Zealand, there is always more to learn about and share.

Top tips

  • Make sure you write your speech with plenty of time to practice. You may want to recite it in the mirror at home or to your friends or family. You may also want to time it if your presentation has a time limit.
  • Write cue cards with key points to keep you on track during your talk.
  • The more public speaking you do, the easier it becomes. Volunteer for speaking events at school or in your community and show your confidence and dedication to animals.
